This page contains information about upcoming transition milestones for the Data System Refresh programme.

Milestone 8: 2025 SDR full transition

The Single Data Return (SDR) and registers transition to DXP Ngā Kete in February 2025, after tertiary education organisations (TEOs) have completed the December 2024 SDR in Services for Tertiary Organisations (STEO). The March Indicative and April SDR are the first returns to be completed in DXP Ngā Kete. TEOs continue to use STEO up to 20 February 2025 (except for pilot TEOs, which are already using DXP Ngā Kete).

SDR transition timeline 

Here are the key dates for the SDR transition.

Date Implementation activity Guidance
20 February 2025 (9.00pm)  Stop using STEO – access removed Continue to use STEO as usual to update registers and for April SDR practice runs until this date.
21–24 February 2025 inclusive DSR will migrate all SDR and register data from STEO to DXP Ngā Kete STEO and DXP Ngā Kete are not available during this period.
 
Migration includes April SDR practice runs and open courses and qualifications. 
25 February 2025 Start using DXP Ngā Kete for SDR and registers User guides for registers and SDR in the DXP Ngā Kete user guides section (coming soon).

Completed transition milestones 

Milestone 1: 1 May 2024 – TEO access 

New roles added to existing Education Sector Login (ESL) user profiles so that users have the access they need in DXP Ngā Kete. 

Access to STEO, ITR, WS2 and the existing Ngā Kete continued as we incrementally transition to DXP Ngā Kete. 

Milestone 2: 1 June 2024 – Commitments 

Mix of Provision (MoP) and Educational Performance Indicator Commitments (EPICs) templates provisioned on DXP Ngā Kete for TEOs to complete and submit. 

Milestone 3: 8 July 2024 – SDR pilot 

The purpose of the pilot is to refine the data submission process with a small group of TEOs so the full transition for all TEOs is as smooth as possible. 

Milestone 4: 1 October 2024 – Other funds Actuals and information products 

Other funds Actuals templates provisioned on DXP Ngā Kete for TEOs to complete and submit. 

Milestone 5: 18 December 2024 – Registers enhancements for pilot TEOs 

Registers enhancements made on DXP Ngā Kete for pilot TEOs.  

Milestone 6: 18 December 2024 – Workforce Questionnaire for pilot TEOs 

Workforce Questionnaire templates provisioned on DXP Ngā Kete for pilot TEOs to complete and submit as part of Dec SDR.
