Online enrolment in minutes
The aim is for learners to be able to enrol anywhere, anytime, with no paperwork required at all. There is no paperwork for the institution either. You save time and money, and you get verified information you can trust.

How does this system work?
In three easy steps:
- A student logs on to your site using their RealMe® credentials
- Your enrolment platform calls the Ministry of Education to get their National Student Number (NSN)
- Your enrolment platform then calls the New Zealand Qualifications Authority Learner Application Programme Interface (API) to get their achievement records
…and the student is ready to complete their enrolment.
It is that simple and that quick.
Who can use this system?
If you are allowed or required to use the National Student Index you can use this enrolment method.
What you need to do to set up your system:
- Contact RealMe® at business@realme.govt.nz to start this process.
- Once the RealMe® setup is done contact the Ministry of Education at service.desk@education.govt.nz to setup integration with the NSI.
- Then contact NZQA at apigateway@nzqa.govt.nz to setup integration with the Learner API.
Find out about the University of Auckland's prototype model
The University of Auckland has successfully completed a prototype model for this system.
They have launched the first phase of its integration - people are now able to register their identity with the University swiftly and safely using RealMe®.
They have developed a guide, based on their experience:
