This page provides information on the Moderation team for the Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) Quality Evaluation 2026.

In preparation for the Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) Quality Evaluation 2026, the TEC is seeking nominations for roles within the Moderation team.

The Moderation team is responsible for ensuring consistency across assessments and panels, which is key to providing confidence in the results of the Quality Evaluation. The Moderators work closely with the TEC to appoint Panel Chairs, initial Panellists, and support the drafting of Panel Specific Guidance. They also work with our PBRF sector reference group to help finalise the Guidelines for the Quality Evaluation.

The Moderation team for Quality Evaluation 2026 will include a Co-Moderator, a Co-Moderator Māori, and a Deputy Moderator – Pacific.

The Moderation team will be appointed from mid-2022 to mid-2026, when we will publish the provisional results of the Quality Evaluation.

Nominations can be sent by email to PBRF.Help@tec.govt.nz by 5pm on 15 July 2022.

The links below provide further information about the roles and the person specifications.

We will carefully consider all the nominations we receive. As part of this process, we may contact nominees.

In order to ensure the right capability, skills, and experience in, the TEC may extend the invitation to join the Moderation team to other appropriate people as required.
