Funding

The Literacy and Numeracy funding mechanism is issued by the Minister responsible for tertiary education. The funding mechanism outlines the general form and essential components of the fund. It provides the mandate for us to allocate the funding and what the funding can be used for, and details how we administer the fund.

A TEO that receives Adult Literacy Educator funding is required to:

Funding rate

We allocate Adult Literacy Educator funding to a TEO on the basis of a specified number of places in programmes leading to literacy and numeracy qualifications at level 5 on the NZQF.

The funding rate is $2,069 per learner, as a grant to contribute to the learner's fees.

From 1 January 2022 the funding rate per learner will increase by 1.2% to $2,094.

Payment

Payments are made in equal monthly instalments.
