Our whiri is our backbone. A high-quality kete has a secure and tight whiri or plait which sits at the foundation bringing together the different flax strands. Like the whiri, we see TEC as the strength at the centre of the tertiary education and careers system.

Our purpose

To shape a dynamic system that delivers lifelong learning and equips learners, communities and employers for success.

Our vision

A resilient, prosperous New Zealand where every person has the skills, knowledge and confidence to create a fulfilling life.

Our Te Tiriti commitments

We commit to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi by partnering with tangata whenua, meeting the needs and aspirations of Māori learners and their whānau, and actively protecting taonga.
