Lincoln University has repaid $1.5 million (GST exclusive) to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) after an independent investigation showed the university’s Telford Division had not delivered the required learning hours across several vocational programmes in accordance with its funding agreement.
We shared Assessment Tool usage data last year and had subsequent conversations with tertiary education organisations (TEOs). This showed that while most TEOs are using the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool as part of good teaching practice, there is still room for improvement across the sector.

Minister for Primary Industries Nathan Guy and Associate Minister Louise Upston today provided the necessary land consents to allow Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre’s acquisition of Lincoln University’s Telford Campus to proceed. TEC’s Board have also approved the transfer of funding from Telford to Taratahi.
Chris Lloyd (pictured above) is part of a national project to discover how best to support trainees with dyslexia. The project provides for learners to be screened for dyslexia and then provided with information and assistance to work with their condition, and to succeed.

Today, Education Minister Hon Chris Hipkins, announced the Government will end competitive allocations of funding at New Zealand Qualification Framework levels 1 to 4. This change seeks to give providers greater funding certainty, so they can focus more on the students.
