Te Whakatōnga report
Te Whakatōnga is a bespoke approach to deliberately incorporate mātauranga Māori and te ao Māori values into the WDC’s National Quality Assurance and Moderation activities. It brings together research evidence and practical examples of te ao and mātauranga Māori in quality assurance, and it describes successful models of this being used in practice.
“We want to build the cultural competence and ways of working of our team to better advise and support providers to meet the needs of learners”, said Lester Hoare, Muka Tangata General Manager Quality Assurance and Enhancement.
Muka Tangata also commissioned education specialists SAARA to review their moderation systems so future national moderation plans would be fit-for-purpose. Industry and providers will be able to use the findings to better understand challenges and opportunities for the food and fibre sector and plan their activities to align.
Recommendations from Te Whakatōnga and the SAARA review have been considered for the National External Quality Assurance and Moderation plan for Muka Tangata for 2023, and future mahi, to support providers to meet the needs of industry and ākonga (learners).
You can find both Te Whakatōnga and the SAARA review on the Muka Tangata website.
Also available on the website is The National External Quality Assurance and Moderation plan for 2023.
