Meetings and events are underway throughout New Zealand on the Government’s Reform of Vocational Education proposals, says TEC Chief Executive Tim Fowler.

“It’s time to hear what you have to say. Your participation is crucial. You all bring insights and experience that we need to hear. I encourage you to be a part of this process, to share your knowledge and views, and work with us to get the best outcomes for New Zealand and New Zealanders,” says Tim.

The government has three main proposals for change:

·         new roles for providers and industry bodies

·         a New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology serving all of New Zealand

·         a unified funding system.

Public community meetings across the country provide an opportunity for the public and industry stakeholders to learn more about the proposals and give feedback face-to-face.

“We’re also visiting all Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) and Industry Training Organisations (ITOs) throughout the country, as well as holding hui and fono. It’s important that we hear from everyone who has an interest in the future of New Zealand’s vocational education and training,” says Tim.
