The Special Supplementary Grant for Special Education (SSG – Special Education) is available to institutes of technology and polytechnics (ITPs) that already teach students with special needs.

The grant is designed to make access to tertiary education easier for people with special needs. It helps provide additional tutorial support (above normal staffing levels) to work with students who need more assistance.

SSG – Special Education is a ‘top-up’ to levels 1 & 2 Student Achievement Component (SAC) funding – to help cover the costs of providing extra support for students with special needs. It is not intended to be the only or primary source of funding to support students with special education needs.
