After a small-scale, targeted consultation with providers – testing clarity and key messages – we have published the LNAAT Guidelines for 2023.
In the 2023 Funding Conditions, we did not refer directly to the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool (LNAAT). Instead, we emphasised assessing literacy and numeracy needs by using the Guidelines on our website.
This does not signal a move away from using the LNAAT, but it moves our documented expectations to the Guidelines. This is important because we can adjust the Guidelines more quickly in response to feedback and changes in best practice.
