Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool support and resources move to TEC
The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is now providing the knowledge base and support resources for the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool (LNAAT).
The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is now providing the knowledge base and support resources for the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool (LNAAT).
This is part of a wider transition to strengthen literacy and numeracy support across the tertiary education system.
Previously managed by the New Zealand Council for Educational Research (NZCER), the LNAAT was developed to support educators and organisations to assess adult literacy and numeracy capability using the Adult Learning Progressions framework.
The tool is used widely across tertiary education to help educators identify learner literacy and numeracy needs, target support effectively, and monitor learner progress over time. It supports literacy and numeracy delivery across foundation education, workplace learning and other tertiary provision.
The transition supports continuity of service, strengthens system-wide capability and aligns the LNAAT more closely with TEC’s wider literacy and numeracy stewardship role.
As part of the transition:
- the LNAAT knowledge base and support materials are now available on the TEC website
- frontline support for the LNAAT is now provided by TEC’s Customer Contact Team
- the web address, functionality and use of the tool remain unchanged.
Further information, guidance and support resources will continue to be added to the TEC website over the coming months.
