NZQA is now consulting on changes to its Rules to reflect amendments to the Education and Training Act that came into effect on 1 August 2022 and to ensure the rules remain up-to-date and fit for purpose.

Across 2022, NZQA has been working on implementing the changes around simplifying qualifications and credentials that were announced in 2021. A sector working group, co-led by NZQA and Workforce Development Councils, has been developing the proposed way forward for skill standards and their relationship with other educational products like micro-credentials, qualifications and ‘national curricula’. The proposals developed through this process are now being formally consulted on, along with several other changes to ensure the rules remain up-to-date and fit for purpose.

Please visit Rules Consultation – NZQA for information about the changes and how to provide your feedback. If you need more information, please get in touch with NZQA at rules2022@nzqa.govt.nz. Submissions close at 5pm on Friday 21 October 2022.
