The English for Migrants programme enables migrants to participate in English language courses, helping them settle into communities and work.

Who applies:  ITOs, ITPs, PTEs, REAPs, schools, universities, wānanga

Agreed through:  Funding letter (off Plan)

As a part of their residency requirements, some migrants are required to pay English language tuition fees to Immigration New Zealand (a part of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment) before arriving in New Zealand. This is known as ‘pre-purchased tuition’.  The total amount paid per person varies dependant on the migrant's level of English.

We administer these pre-purchased tuition payments on behalf of Immigration New Zealand. All payments must be used for English language courses at approved organisations only. The funds are intended to cover the compulsory student fees.

We pay student fees to approved providers once we receive confirmation of each individual migrant’s enrolment in approved English for Migrants courses.

Please go to the Immigration New Zealand website for details of English language requirements.
